The reluctant lawman / Bob Terrell.

Terrell, Bob. (Author).

Summary:

Tecumseh Catring has been on the run for three days when he rides into Lone Pine. Ford Whitney and his men have been after him ever since that poker game turned ugly, but Catring is tired of running. If Whitney wants trouble, he’ll have to face Catring right in town. The consequences are greater than anyone could have imagined. Within forty-eight hours, Lone Pine has been burned to the ground, and Ford Whitney is dead. Catring is determined to see the town rebuilt, but even with Whitney out of the way, trouble lurks behind every corner. The villagers ask the skilled gunman to be their sheriff, and Catring grudgingly agrees. Wearing a badge is not always the best way to make friends, however, as he soon finds out. When hired hitmen Amos Box and Getalong Sutton show up in town, the lawman knows his days may be numbered. But whoever wants him dead is not after simple revenge, and Catring’s own fate becomes secondary when he learns of his enemy’s ultimate goal….
